By Order of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Stremmel Auctions will be conducting the private sale of an emerald specimen, typical of that from Bahia, Brazil. All bids will be fielded privately and the highest bid will be awarded as the winner of the emerald, contingent upon approval from the Bankruptcy Court. Bidding is open immediately and concludes 21 February 2018. Previewing the specimen as well as additional pictures are available upon request.
The specimen measures approximately 32 cm (L) x 6.6 cm (W) x 6 cm (D). There is a broken section of beryl/emerald crystal located near the end of the large crystal and embedded in the matrix of similar quality measuring approximately 47.06 mm x 56.88 mm. In addition to the two large crystals described above, there are multiple smaller white beryl crystals also embedded in the matrix. This combination of crystals is typical of Bahia, Brazil.
The mineral specimen weighs roughly 52 pounds.
There does not appear to be any dye in the emerald nor does there appear to be any damage.
The mine in Brazil is unknown.
